SW OH | I went to a vocational school in the early 80s. The senior welding class teacher told us a story about 1 of his first jobs which would have been in the 60s I'd guess. I believe it was in Pittsburgh along one of the rivers. There was a car junkyard across the river from where he worked. An older guy that worked there would do the same every Friday. He had a setup for the cylinder with X and Y adjustment screws. He would hacksaw around the valve to make it easier to knock off with a hammer. At the end of the day he would launch the cylinder across the river and try to put it in a junk car. Friday was payday and everyone would make bets on whether he could put it in the car. The junkyard was in on it too and would place a car for the target. Supposedly he put it in the car more than 50% of the time. It was a different car each week and smaller cars were more of a challenge.
