Subject: Vermeer 840

North Central Texas
The clutch on our Vermeer 840 keeps getting hot. We replaced the friction plates and it still did not work. Maybe we should wait overnight and let it completely cool off.

What causes this? The only things my brother did he said was 1.) forgot to drop it down and ran it high for about 50 yards and did not cut anything and 2.) was cutting the corners after making all the headland passes and the previous windrows pilled up in front and he went like this for about 30 yards. Our oats/triticale is very tall due to all the rain. It should have been cut a month ago but we couldn't. It is like 4' tall. Is this overloading it?
