Driftless SW Wisconsin | Ed Boysun - 5/13/2025 12:54 Sounds like you are bettering your battery life expectancy. When researchers first started trying to determine how long a typical battery would last before significant degradation would occur, they would do a full charge/discharge cycle and count how many iterations it would take before the battery became badly crippled. When real life battery lifetimes turned out to be much better than lab tests predicted, the test was re-evaluated. Turns out that short charge/discharge cycles of varying durations with spurts of high usage in the mix are better for long battery life. Heavy acceleration with regen, while poorer for economy will increase battery life. Not saying that his could or couldn't happen, but for example, if one was to find himself piloting an EV and a racket-making, nasty smelling V10 Viper was to pull up beside you at a stop-light and you were to embarrass him by giving him a look at your tail-lights when the light turned green, you would actually be doing good things for your battery ;-) I love this Ed! I was stopped at a light with an expensive late model Corvette next to me. He was revving the engine like it was a scene from the movie "American Graffiti". I thought, what the heck, let's see what my little Bolt EUV will do. Well I smoked him out of the light, probably burned some rubber, but it was worth it. Naturally he made a point of passing me later but it was fun for a hundred yards or so.
