That’s a great idea .

Another one I thought of is diesel/ electric sure seems to work good on trains .

Off subject but Cummins is working on a Hydrogen engine
They are using a 6.7 and an ISX 15 .

I am going to look into a little more .

I am not a fan of the Cummins natural gas engines . We had nothing with problems with them .ill go so far to say I hate them .

There's a simple reason most locomotives are diesel-electric. A diesel motor needs to get up to RPM to develop power, but an electric motor develops full power from the get-go. If a diesel locomotive had a clutch, it would be burned out long before it got up to speed.
Some have had hydraulic couplers, but less successfully.
