That's just enough incentive (maybe, probably not) to get a foreign company to open a U.S. plant. (maybe). But it's clearly not enough incentive to get manufacturers to build new plants, or the tariff's in place for the last 9 years now would have already done it. As has already been mentioned, pretty much all of the Trump tariff's stayed in place during the Biden administration and we got what? It took the CHIPS act to basically mandate manufacturing to get anything to happen. Biden had to threaten Engineers working in China with loss of citizenship to get them back in the U.S. to build Chip plants. Tariff's already weren't doing it. Does anyone have that kind of stomach for anything else?
