Subject: Looks like we have a Chinese deal.. “made of steel.”

Look at the alliances we have forged.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putin-greets-chinas-xi-kremlin-2025-05-08/

These are the people we are trying to force to the negotiating table eh?  One to make peace with Ukraine..another to level trade flows.  Not a good look.

Okay.  “Long Wheat”. Since Putin invaded Ukraine in 2022 Wheat prices have spiked.. I’ve contracted ahead more than a single year.. coupled with our own drought.. so yes “short Wheat.”

”Wrong Wheat” It’s the cheapest crop to grow here.  Corn has about a 30 bu yield advantage which doesn’t cover its added expense to grow “on average” but has rotational benefits.  Last year Corn did almost 100 bu better than wheat, second only to 2014..  but we’ve also seen wheat yields exceed corn yields about 30% of the time.. so Corn is more risky especially during a multi year drought but has a higher reward when it hits.

Is this year the last of the drought?

I guess we’ll find out.

Cheers.
