Why not try AA? Your way hasn’t worked so well in the past from the sounds of things. The people that I know that quit drinking for good attend AA and have positive things to say about it. The stigma of it seems to keep a lot away from it. Really to bad in my opinion.

I’m sure it’s a great program . It has kept many sober for a long time .

I know some people in it .

I’m actually almost done with the big book now .

For me keeping busy is working great now .

Those terrible withdrawals taught this old farmer enough.

My councilor said she had seen people like me before. Just say enough and quit . She said not many but a few and still sober .

I have too much to do to mess around not doing my best .

What would I do if a tone was dropped at 3am and I was drunk and could not go to keep someone’s house from burning down ?

What if FF on my department got hurt because I was not there to back him up ?

I have a responsibility to try to help and protect my neighbors. I take that very seriously.

I have to be ready for GO time all the time .

Can’t be a drunk and do what I do .

Hell of a lot better do what I do than be a drunk.

Save a bunch of money not drinking , get a lot more done
Feel better .

There is absolutely nothing positive about drinking -imo
It’s nothing but negative consequences.

Any rational person would agree with that I must be a slow learner it took me long enough.
