I think you're right. Insecticide treated beans can have a really detrimental effect in notil, particularly in regard to slug control. I think it kills far to many benificials and results devastating slug damage. Think about it: slugs feed on systematic treated plants, predators feed on the slugs and that insecticide kills them. It's a downward spiral from there. Slugs are a far more serious concern for me than any bean leaf beetle damage I've ever had.

I think fungicide treated seed might have an application under specific conditions, but I've never been in favor of any "shotgun" approach. It's kinda contrary to the whole IPM concept.

That's my opinion, anyway.
