| what i have heard is there`s an area of the ports which is shall we say "duty free" as long as it`s doesn`t leave (waiting for lower tariffs). much of china`s production was front loaded in anticipation of the tariffs, so now china companies are laying off workers and shuttering factories, who knows if there`ll be a need to reopen them if the dust settles?
in the past china and the importing companies have ate the tariffs, this time they can`t raise prices, consumers tap out. so companies will face a margin squeeze.
