| Some people who are really into extended fasting make “snake juice” to prevent their electrolytes from being imbalanced on prolonged fasts.
- 2 liters of water
- 1 teaspoon of potassium chloride (2560 mg of potassium, the equivalent of 26 potassium supplement pills)
- 1/2 TSP SODIUM CHLORIDE
(HIMALAYAN PINK SALT)
- 1 TSP SODIUM BICARBONATE
(BAKING SODA)
- 1/2 TSP MAGNESIUM SULPHATE
(EPSOM SALTS - FOOD GRADE)
I initially wondered if snake juice would damage the bowels like encapsulated potassium chloride tablets since it has so much potassium but then re-read the part about the encapsulation making it so that it was absorbed in the small intestine. Maybe the snake juice gets absorbed mostly before the small intestine testing? Or maybe it’s a bad deal, I don’t know. Never tried it.
Basically I was just looking for ways to get my electrolytes in balance and came across all kinds of stuff. Lots of people have lots of ideas.
I do think there is a NAT poster who is still an active member who did the snake diet for awhile and caught a lot of flak so he quit posting about it. Not sure how it turned out for him longer term. Would like to know.
