Southeast Washington | I just looked at an application for a proposed solar farm in a county next door. It will have 7,000 leased acres and said the solar array will cover 915 acres. At least this is not prime farm land although the ones protesting it may say otherwise.
This is a ridge top overlooking the Snake River which is home to the four Lower Snake River Dams that some have been pushing for years to remove. There are also probably 700 wind turbines up and running in the area for many years. It all ties into the electrical grid that is in place for the dams to deliver the power to the western U.S. The political climate has changed so less likely to be developed because the last administration had been pushing to replace the power of the four dams before they were breached. Now now tally is about producing the small nuclear reactors around the region. I surely don't want to see the dams go. | |
