Subject: 84 years driving the 1941 Ford 9N

Mid Michigan
Started right up after sitting all winter in the heated garage. Never gets under 39F. Ran it 1/2 mile and back to check the tile pump which cycled OK. First drove it in 1941 when my next older brother was missing and next oldest 2 needed a driver to get a load of hay in before a rain. I was 7 and small. Jim got it on a windrow, sat me on the seat, leaned in, put it in gear and let up the clutch with his hand. I was too small to reach the clutch, could just steer and run the throttle and key.
When did you first drive a tractor?
