Subject: RE: cutter or mulcher

Southeast
I assume you are wanting to get it pasture ready, correct?
For me, it would come down to how quickly I want the job done and what my needs are going forward. The mulcher is going to leave the ground much more ready to seed and finish and would be a more complete job.
If you use a cutter, it will take time for things to die out and may always leave rough areas.
Since you have a track machine and are only talking about 5-acres, I would rent a mulching head (if you can find a low flow unit for rent) and have the cutter for future maintenance. If you cannot rent a head, hire out the rough stuff and finish with the cutter. You will be much happier in the end.
