Milford, IL | Garbage food isnt desirable or appealing, its just easier than cooking real food.
Neighborhood boy stopped in after school today, like he does most every day after school - same age as my younger son. Point blank asked if he could stay for dinner - my wife initially said 'no' but then reconsidered after asking him what they were having. 'Pizza' he said in a dejected voice and she asked why that wasn't exciting for him, going out for pizza is a a treat for our boys. "We have pizza almost every night" (frozen).
She reconsidered and we had a nice dinner. I think most farm raised adults would be stunned how lots of kids eat today - steady diet of frozen pizza, dino nuggets, and freezer isle taquitos. Its depressing but I don't know how you change behaviour, or if people born after 199x even know how to cook?
And for the record, RFK might be a moron I don't know. I should probably brush up on where he stands on food policy, the odds of him affecting how I behave are very near zero. | |
