Nebraska | 20-30 head isn’t going to make your living if it’s great or break you if it’s not. So market direction is not something I would worry about much, I would do what you want to as it’s more of a strategy decision than a market decision at this point. Decide if you want to grow or shrink and get going that direction! You pick the speed, don’t let the “experts“ sway you much.
We have expanded cows over time, both with breeding extra heifers and buying old cows depending on the market. We do when we can, and not when someone else thinks it’s a good idea.
If it was me right now, I’d keep all my heifers and maybe even buy some more. They have some potential to be priced in yet in this market, breds and pairs not as much in my opinion.
