| In the past we have always wrapped 4x4.5' round balea of rye individually cut as soon as it starts to head. Love the feed but this year planted more than normal so decided on an inline wrapper. We have one 50 acre field 5 miles from cattle, expecting close to 200 round bales. With that being said, the weather is giving us a very tight window, looks like we'll have about 2 or 3 days to do it in the evenings after work. Thinking about inline wrapping the bales at the field instead of hauling them home to save on a bunch of hauling time.
Main question, once you start feeding, do you need to just remove one every couple days or can I go get 4-6 bales once a week and feed them? Planning on feeding them starting mid to late July to help extend out pasture grazing. Will the rest of the bales start molding bad? How soon does it need fed after taking it from the wrap? If we could just make a trip with tractor and bale wagon once a week and haul 4 -6 bales home instead of trying to move them in a tight window it would allow us to get this rye baleage done for sure.
Never messed with inline wrapped bales so don't know the do's and don'ts | |
