For decades, Putin tried to infiltrate Ukraine politics, as he has done elsewhere. It's a long, complicated story, but the Ukrainian people chose freedom over tyranny, which frustrated Putin to no end. His attempts to conquer Ukraine militarily has been a disaster, the small gains he has made have been at the expense of hundreds of thousands of recruits, sent to the meat-grinder of human wave attacks.
