Why is it not a coin flip? Because farmers get better every year. Humans get better every year. We get better tractors. Better fertilizer placement. Better seed placement with planters. More irrigation put in. Better drainage.
In your farming career have you gotten better or worse at farming or stayed the same?
I can tell you around here ten years ago very few if any used starter fertilizer on corn.
You go 20 years ago and even the best land here was only half ass irrigated.
