Ford ecoBOOM in certain sizes and models. Toyota Tundra turbo v6. GM 6.2L
Seems like a lot of this stems back to trying to wring every last tenth of MPG out of them for the EPA standards. Cylinder deactivation, valve timing, smaller engines with turbos and such being FAR more complex than they used to be. Oil that's closer to water than oil.
All that leads to unreliability. Which.....is that really that good for the environment if engines are being replaced all the time? |
