I have thought for a long time that the farm world is crawling with narcissists. If your father is narcissistic, you do not have your own life. Everything is done to suit HIS demands with no consideration for your own wants/needs/desires. And it is insidious too. Often, nothing is said outright as in "You WILL be taking this farm over", but it starts in childhood and the kid grows up with that thought being drilled into his brain. When a kid is raised that way, they don't really know any other way and have no idea how to escape the overbearing overlord.

I am surprised that 40% admitted to it and will even go so far as to say that more than likely a percentage of the 60% who say they love farming are actually lying and cannot admit themselves that they were "forced" into it.

The sad part is that kids who are raised in those conditions often end up being that way themselves and their own child(ren) become the next generation of victims.

Hit'n pretty close to home here.
