Western Oregon | I broke my ankle in 3 places and small bone in leg in 2 places when I was 50, 69 now. I also had drop toe and when boot finally came off 12 weeks later my leg was 1/2 the size of the other. My knee has hurt since. I had to relearn to walk and then relearn not to limp. I have since had surgery to stabilize ankle, then fusion and finally had to have ankle joint removed and fused. So now have a lift and rocker sole. Took a lot of therapy to build strength back and walk without a limp. I found a walking stick helped a lot to not favor that side. Took quite a while to get the motion back and stride through. Changes in stride has caused back pain over the years. Went to chiropractor for years. After breaking, before fusion, left leg was always shorter, but in hip/muscle placement, not actual leg length, like now. Even though lift makes it the same length now, I still hobble/limp in my hip because of pain, cane, arm crutches or plain ole stick help with that. Injury was to left side, walking stick in right hand....James | |
