Outside vendors? Remember a couple years ago when JD had bad cranks due to some outside vendor not drilling the oil ports (I think) correctly? Or, something like that.
If I were in the mfg business using outside vendor's stuff, I'd double & triple check each item. I'd bet $100 that someone in charge @ the outside vendor knew about the incorrect surfacing.
