Newguy - 5/4/2025 18:29 Agreed, dirt was/is like a freshly dug up 100 year old fence line. It’s nice not to have a few strikes against ya going in. Been a while here.
We planted in mostly good conditions last year. On June 15th we had some really awesome looking corn and we had just got done side dressing Nitrogen.
Then the flooding happened the week after Father's Day and harvest
(for us
) mostly sucked. Just sayin, its a long ways till harvest, lots can happen.
Yup. Long ways till harvest. But I doubt there’s ever been a record crop for anyone that got off to a poor start. We’ve been wet here, but the tile lines have been working overtime, and have gone several days rain free, and with a nice sunny, warm forecast for the next ten days, the crop will all be planted in Iowa over the next ten days. In warming soils too, quick emergence and strong stands as a result.Key building blocks to record yields. Over a very large area. There’s already a lot of two inch high corn in the southern third of Iowa. The heart of the cornbelt is gonna be off to a very good start after all.
