| I would never tolerate an HOA. Anywhere. We're not talking about that. A landfill, or mining for that matter, destroys all future value of the land. That's why you have mining permits, landfill permits, dumping permits, etc, to make sure that land isn't permanently rendered unusable and nonvaluable. You take the landfill example. This guy makes a million dollars an acre on 40 acres in a year. He's gonna offer an outrageous sum for the 40 beside him, and on and on. Everyone else will be pushed out just by economics.
Now in theory, I agree with "I didn't buy it, I don't get to say what happens on it." But does that include destroying it? Generally no. Higher authorities will step in, as they should.
So should companies with a history of buying businesses and destroying them be allowed to continue? Economic productivity is as important as productivity of land. If you let it continue, pretty soon your county is a landfill, or there's nothing left but hollowed out shells of companies venture capital doesn't want. | |
