Barry County, MI | have thistle bad except hay fields
this is all an accident
but a good one
here how it came down
23 corn field aft
we after harvest we chiseled plowed each field
then put a couple bus cereal rye broad cast with fertilizer spreader
then come spring we didn't get a contract to grow eatable soybeans that I much cared for so said the heck with it Im not going to grow for the fun of it
so in April late wife got on the Honda rancher and the Hurd seeded mounted to it
and put 10 lbs of medium red clover on per ac.
July late we harvested the rye
the clover had growled up through the rye ha ha
rye
in next week or two I clipped with bush hog
and did it again in early Sept.
now may 25 Im plowing and not seeing any at all Canada thistle at all anywhere
in any of the fields I plowed but one had some but it was where landlord had a tile repair and they had dug a good bit around in a area
I had tried mowing in the full moon once we had some success but all the summer falling
never did more than make them thrive
the hay fields that stay in alfalfa they will ground it out in a couple years but I cant plant the hole farm in
so culavaded the corn in 23 and chidled the fields in fall of 23 and planted the rye
then in April of 24 frost seeded the clover
then combined rye then bush hog fields twice and left everything on the ground
yhen started molebard plowing and after a while noticed no Canada thistle on the fields needless to say I m a surprised happy camper
thanks in part to a low price bean market I thought may some organic guy might be interested the field was untilled for 17 months and wes the clover is app 10 to 12 inches tall archie
