I read trumps comment as acknowledgment that the current policy of trade tariffs will result in fewer and more expensive goods in the US market. Dolls, in this context, are a euphemism for consumer goods.
In farm terms, think of a neighbor who shoots your bull and burns down your barn because he thinks everyone else's loss is his gain.
Tariffs are suppose to discourage imports, so where is the windfall of cash from collecting tariffs, when those imports stop coming in? |
