West Central Indiana | Not being a richard, but everything breaks down with age and lack of maintenance. That looks like its set outside for most of its life and had very little work done to it. The way the pins for the gauge wheels are grooved that has had a lot of acres or no grease. Biggest thing that caused failure on the 2000 units was turning in the ground which starts stress cracks then they break. We had a 16/31 2600 with around 40,000 acres when we got rid of it. It no-tilled a lot and we only had 1 unit we had to work on the shank. I'm not saying we didn't weld on the units because places started to crack but if you actually inspected it and paid attention you could easily manage it. It was an excellent planter for the time it was made. | |
