DCH - 5/3/2025 09:18 Give or take 90% by top 10% and corporations Top 1% taxable income is apx $787,000 today in the US. For 35 years, I have broke down tax returns. Most farmers pay little to no federal tax snd very little SS/Medicare tax and they don’t know the difference either. When looking at government payments, a bigger % of gross and net income comes from government payments— on the small and mid sized farms.
"Most farmers pay little to no federal tax and very little SS/Medicare tax and they don't know the difference either." Maybe those who can't raise a crop. Your last two sentences are completely false.
Nope. Whether you like it or not doesn’t matter. You want to get real— USDA has language about not giving money to “ hobby operations”. The definition doesn’t get challenged for a variety of reasons.

Ok, your views suddenly make sense.     When you're talking about "farmers" you're merely talking about people who file a Sch F, not necessarily people who make a living from farming.

People who make a living from farming, pay taxes.   If they don't, they will eventually go broke.   You can't borrow against inflation forever, banks eventually want to be repaid.

Hobby farmers on the other hand, use their "farm" as a tax deduction.    And there's a whole lot more hobby farmers out there than there real farmers that make a living from the farm.

Wrong again
