| There was a period of my life I mostly would have agreed with you. Then I read about Thomas Jefferson and he changed my mind.
The idealist version of me still wants to agree with you. Jefferson, who had methodically studied nearly all prior governments of civilization, advocated for a progressive tax and agrarian society. It's worth reading. What happens in real life, is too much wealth (and therefore power) consolidates into a few powerful families. We have elements of this today. I'd hate to worsen it. | |
