Made the final move back into Idaho today. Started in the dark, 28° degrees this morning. Then heated up upper 70's or higher I think. Dusty and dry, not much grass. Praying for a rain tonight, maybe.
Us older bosses get job of riding wheelers to keep cows in check when run backs happen. We also ride the outer fences incase calves go through fence. Only had three go through this year in 15 miles today. We made record time, but cattle broke our of holding pen 3 hours after leaving them sit. Was able to get them gathered before dark. We hire a cook for all our brandings and he also cooks on this day. So we moved over 25 miles this week with them.
Good thing these cows can live on rocks and scenery. We install green contact lenses on those cattle at birth so they don't know any difference.
