Regarding NE and irrigation -- examining satellite photos of Nebraska is just amazing. The number of pivots in that state beggars imagination. And as an aside, I have a late relative who farmed extensively in SD who opined that all the irrigation in Nebraska had increased the annual rainfall amounts in his area.
