I know what you’re saying. My parents survived hailstorms and drought but always made it by. I survived the 80’s. What I see now is living costs are so much more. Didn’t used to have monthly cell phone bills, trash pickup, internet. Health insurance is taking a lot more. A lot of little things that weren’t eating away at us 40 years ago or more.
Then, machinery cost and repair. Inputs. Yet prices are not much better than decades ago. Yields have generally gone up (depends on the year) but not enough to make up the difference.
