SE IL | Your last sentence is spot on, it ends up subsidizing land. Once everyone understands this, it becomes normal thinking to say the subsidies need to go. It’s not that anyone is against helping young farmers….its true of all subsidies, not just ag.
There is no free lunch: any subsidy that remains permanent (which is most of them), just ends up with the market adjusting and then it is rendered ineffective. But guess what .gov always says? We NEED MORE subsidies! And the problems just grows….
