With the limit at 2m now a young kid who is likely to inherit 1k acres gets to buy his first 150-200 with cheap interest. The kid starting with nothing gets his first 40 with cheap interest, the gap is still growing. I don’t think eliminating the program would have the negative effects you think.

Anytime there is govt money involved, it gets abused. Only way to prevent the abuse is to end the govt money.
Beginning farmers would be much much better off if ALL govt subsidies were ended and let land prices adjust to economic reality.
