| There is really no advantage of running a newer planter.
Just get a seed tender or a spout to go on the probox and load with your skid loader.
Get the edrive or something similar. I have a few more point rows and odds and ends than you probably and save around 16% on seed.
It probably helps yield some also.
I had air clutches, then electric row clutches. Both worked for a few years, then I had trouble.
Air clutches were more maintenance.
The electric row clutches got the blame for the seed unit locking up, but I am not so sure about that.
Either way another planter with electric drive took care of the issue.
I will say I have been thinking about getting a bulk fill planter, but suspect that could bring on another set of problems.
I have been threatening to get an 8 row finger, ground drive planter, rig up a monitor that shuts off one side or the other. Then put my 7130 on it and leave it hooked up all year.
At my age, if it was completely rebuilt, it would plant my corn until I retire with just a little grease. | |
