E.Central MN | I keep hearing about how expensive tires are for fire trucks, really, is that such a major problem to deal with? Yeah it sucks that the fire trucks don't drive enough miles to wear their tires out, but it's no different than for a big RV that sits most of the year. If you can't have tire problems, then you'll have to replace the tires after a set number of years whether they look like new or not. Compared to the rest of the operating costs of a fire truck I doubt the cost of new tires every 5 years would be that significant. | |
