We built a new firehall in ‘04 and it was mandatory to have an engineer design it and to be to public building code it was absolutely foolish, meanwhile an area farmer agreed to build a bigger better building with some sense and sell back to the department for a dollar less than his cost. It would have been great until a local contractor threatened he’d sue the city council and townships if he didn’t get a chance to build it and they were nervous so it went through the official process and he never did get the bid. So frustrating. | |
