UP / Thumb of Michigan | Not to throw a wet blanket on anyone's plans- and hoping to not prevent anyone in the UP from making a living either- I'd recommend that whatever you do, you line it up very soon. The northern lower peninsula is cleaning up after the ice storm a few weeks ago for starters. Last I heard, a lot of of campgrounds were closed and may not open this year. Theres an awful lot of work to be done to get many campground's (both private as well as state and fed) back up and running.
Which all that means is that theres going to be some additional pressure on accommodations in other areas. Including the UP.
As far as renting a place that meets your needs, there are a tremendous number of VRBO's put into service the last few years. I know a few places that used to be what I'd call traditional vacation cabins that are now going under the VRBO moniker. Just takes a different search is all I can tell. | |
