NEMO | Is it a nation wide trucking company you are dealing with?
Had a friend get in an accident with a truck from a national trucking chain. (Not sure which one, but think along the lines of a UPS or FedEx or JBHunt)
The trucking company was self insured because they have so many trucks on the road. So they could/would drag things out as long as possible. Slow to admit fault, slow to come to an agreement and slow to pay. His deal went to court and was drug out over 2 or 3 years, and was settled in 2 or 3 different phases. One phase was fixing the vehicle. Another phase was for injuries and another phase for lost time/pay.
The trucking company could afford to wait it out while the friend needed it done to get on with life, so I think he caved for a smaller settlement just to get it over with. He was tired of the run around from the trucking company insurance, which was owned by the trucking company.
Something to think about.
Like others have mentioned, try to get made whole by your insurance and let them duke it out with the other insurance. | |
