West Central IA | When I worked in the welding shop, we would cut the rusted sheet metal out roughly 3 to 5 inches from the bottom. Then we would put it on the inside of the trailer and were able to weld it on the top of the strip on the inside, and on the bottom of the outside cut off sheet metal on the outside. you can also weld it to any uprights as well. It will be as strong as the original metal and livestock will not be able to get caught in it. Stitch weld every 4 inches with just a short bead maybe 1/2 inch long and no longer. Be carful to keep it from warping. For added protection you can coat the inside new repair with spray on bed liner or just black jack it. | |
