Milford, IL | Teachers I think can make the difference - but I don't know how 'charter' schools operate. I do know that an administrator or teacher in public school in Illinois has to REALLY screw up to get the axe.
We send our boys to a small private Lutheran school. This has its benefits and its drawbacks - one of the main benefits is the teachers want to be there. And I believe the board could elect to fire them at any time, for any reason if it was decided that a teacher was no longer a good fit for the program. Private school seems to have quite a bit more latitude as to what they can put in the handbook and require of the students - I presume a charter school could do this also and give habitual problem kids the boot.
Fully agree that parenting and lack thereof is an issue and even the best teachers can't get through to some kids. | |
