My opinion.  
Spend some money on the old truck, change all the fluids, give it a tune up, new battery, etc and run it.  There isn't anything better about a new truck other then creature features. 

Not familiar with fire equipment and pumps, but I imagine they could be replaced or refurbished just to make it up to snuff.  

How big of a truck is a million dollar fire truck?
