Southern MN | Had somewhere between 3-6” of rainfall for month of April depending on location. Very dry before that. Finished planting everything except organic acres last night into some of the nicest conditions in my 40 some crops. Both corn and earlier planted soybeans have started to emerge. Rain a few days ago was a packing rain but light rain today with most fields emerging would expect to have almost perfect stands. Pretty early for emergence in our area so a late frost could be a concern. I feel getting our crop off to a nice start is 50+% of the battle. Barring a 25”+ June like last year our yield prospects should be great. The past few years have proven that just a few key rains in July and August we could be on our way to a fabulous crop with our heavier soils.
Talked to my friend east of Rochester yesterday said nothing has been done in that area. | |
