We also lime often and use anhydrous, it would be interesting to do a long term test splitting a field between the two forms.
Quick math says we are still money ahead using anhydrous even after buying more lime. Now if it actually hurts the soil like many claim…..idk
Now as far as the claim of it making soil hard, I would argue low calcium creates dead hard soil so maybe some people using anhydrous are not liming enough
