southern MN | That would be a disaster here 2 out of 5 years, but I’m glad we have different systems that fit the different situations we are in across the continent.
Also here we do the fall tillage run and only need one tillage pass in spring to make a seedbed. So I’m not sure what the original poster should do in his situation. In my area if you have clods of clay a roller type of thing might help make smaller clods of clay can help, more often a rain and hitting it with a harrow type of implement before it all dries out again is best. To be honest, just planting into the clods and get a rain soon works out just fine for less fuel used, but it might not if the rain doesn’t pan out.
Me, this year, I’m doing things a little different than normal anyhow, so see how this year works out for me.
I see the fertilizer rig showed up, sitting in the field I think he is waiting for the semi to fill him. So time to get my field cultivator ready to roll!
