Hilltop Husker - 4/29/2025 07:44 Why does a Lutheran Bible have 66 books while an Orthodox one has upwards of 80? Seems like any difference would be revision and deletion. The Torah has changed dozens of times over millennia. From esoteric to the mystic snippets were changed here and there. We know this from existing text. If there were not changes made why is Mark different from the other gospel? Why does each gospel tell different accounts of the same event? For the same reason that any two people witnessing the same event will give a different account. The Gospels are not meant to be exactly alike. They are complementary. Matthew wrote from a Jewish perspective. Mark focused on the Roman mind. Luke wrote for a Gentile audience. John is referred to as the "universal gospel." That's why there are three referees at basketball games, three umpires at baseball games, and multiple officials at football games. All are watching the same game but see the events unfold from a different perspective. Why does the Orthodox Bible have upwards of 80 books? I don't know. I don't know why some people insist on including uninspired writings. |
