| I wonder how location determines if seed treatment is worth it. I am in western Ohio. A number of years ago I had some treated beans and some non treated beans side by side. The treated beans came up and grew well. Some of the non treated beans were coming up but many were not coming up. I had to replant the non treated beans. That made a believer out of me for treated bean seed. I feel treated seed is a loser expense wise 5 years out of 10 years, a breakeven deal 4 years out of 10 years, and 1 year out of 10 years treated seed will pay off enough to pay for the seed treatment for the other years. The problem is what year is the year for payoff? I know in my area there are many non treated beans planted successfully but that has been my experience in my location. |
