The absolute earliest I'd put them together (and only reason to do so) is breeding time if you're going to put heifers with the cows to get bred by the bull (hopefully not the heifers sire).     By then, hopefully the cow would kick last years calf if it tried to suck.

Not before and if its not for that reason, there's no good reason to put them back together.
