Seed size is more genetic than anything else. Seems like if a variety throws small seed that’s what it does until it’s discontinued. You will see more variation lot number to lot number than you ever will from emergence of small to larger seed.

Old school guys hated small seed in finger pickup meters, I can’t say I’ve ever seen it, lots of finger meters have been updated to precision meters that have adjustment for seed size, since that it seems the guys clamoring for 50# seed corn don’t push as hard (maybe they’re getting older and heavy corn is a pain vs 40# bags).

If your meter can do a good job with it you’ll be fine.
