Willamette Valley Oregon | So we have a Raven Cruizer II we use on our self propelled spreader/sprayer. It works well enough, except sometimes we have 30-45 minutes to wait for it to connect, and at times it just craps out sometimes and is at times unreliable. I've heard mixed words about Raven going in and out of business, that they've been bought... which that looks to be the case. Their website still works and they are still selling products but I think it may be time to look at other GPS units.
We use ours as a marker when we spread and can't see our lines or the Foam marker is down. As well as for running our micro tracker which controls rates with our ground speed. So those things for the rate control is probably more important. I'm more used to doing it the old school way with just the foam marker and eyeball math.
But what have you used in poor connectivity areas that just works nice and isn't a headache at times.
In our tractors we've used Trimble auto steer and John Deere's system. So those might be the way to go, but I liked the price point of TeeJets version and the screen didn't look all that bad.
The other thing though for the Cruizer II is my brother still uses it, and has three or four units so if ours goes down he has an emergency unit while ours gets repaired. So that is another thing. | |
